Lazdijai (red star) is located in SW Lithuania, close to the border with Poland. During the many years when these two countries were either combined into a commonwealth or when they didn't exist as independent nations, administration districts straddled the border. Most surviving pre-WWI records are in Suwalki, Poland archives.
